Trauma & PTSD/C-PTSD

Going through that turned your world around.

“It wasn’t that bad,” you tell yourself, or think, “Worse things have happened to others; I’ll be fine.”

You only want things to return to how they used to be.

You want your life to feel “normal” again. You want to feel content and calm in your life and skin and to feel safe with others.

Once, things in your life felt normal. You kept trying to return to the person you were before it happened. But things kept coming back up that reminded you of it, and unfortunately, your body remembers what the mind tries to forget.

Trauma impacts every part of your being.

It affects how you feel and think about yourself, others, and the world around you.

You try to forget, push those memories away, and distract yourself. But none of it helps!

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) affects every area of your life, creating a disconnect with every part of your life.

Most of the time, you feel trapped inside your head, isolated and alone. But when you try to explain it to others, they don’t seem to understand.

Now, you might be wondering,

“Won’t talking about this make me feel WORSE?”

You might feel worse in the moment and for that session, but the more we talk about it, the more we expose ourselves to taking away the power this has over you. It’s called gradual exposure.

Avoidance doesn’t make trauma go away; it buries it until it comes back up later and even worse.

Trauma work in therapy can help take the edge off how your brain, heart, and body react to the memories of the experience.

There are many therapeutic modalities available.

You may have heard of Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

These are trauma treatments THAT WORK for most people suffering after an event or series of events changed their world.

As a therapist, I can help determine the best approach for you.

You have access to treatments that WORK!

It is possible to experience relief from PTSD.

Healing from trauma must include both your mind and body to integrate your experience entirely. We focus on processing your trauma in manageable and regulated ways.

We will find strategies to help you be present and engaged in life, decreasing the effects that PTSD now has on you.

Recovery comes from revealing your authentic self.

Here’s the thing to remember – you are not broken and not crazy.

You have been affected by an experience that is hard to deal with alone.

Healing is possible and within reach. Trauma therapy works, and I have seen positive results over and over as I have worked with my clients and my healing.

Let’s heal once and for all.

We’ll use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Inner Child Work, Shadow Work, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (to name a few) to fight the demons wrecking and taking control over your life.

All you must do is show up. I’ll take care of the rest.
