Where are you located?
Do you do Telehealth or in-person sessions?
I only offer video/phone Telehealth sessions. Telehealth provides flexibility and convenience, making it easier to prioritize therapy in a busy world.
All sessions occur via Telehealth (phone/video). Telehealth allows us to meet without the barriers of leaving your home, creating a safe space to hold sessions, and reducing transportation or traffic issues.
When are you available for sessions?
My hours are Monday through Friday throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening. I do have a family and enjoy spending time with them outside of work hours. ๐
How long are the sessions?
What is your cancellation policy?
The best work happens when you are consistent in therapy, so I highly encourage steady weekly sessions and hold a spot on my calendar each week specific for you.
Life happens, and so do emergencies. If we need to reschedule during the week, please let me know in advance.
Please give a 24-hour notice to cancel an appointment to avoid a full session fee. I will charge half the session fee if you fail to cancel 24 hours before your scheduled session.
Do you take insurance?
Why don't you take insurance?
There are several reasons why I don’t take insurance, including that I am not okay with insurance companies limiting treatment for clients. Insurance companies tend to focus on keeping their spending and reimbursement to a minimum, and they see you as just a number in a business interaction. I am not okay with this because you are a person โ not a number.
Insurance companies also require me to disclose what we discuss in sessions and limit how many sessions we can have together. These requirements do not ensure complete privacy and confidentiality and are a disservice to clients. It also deters me from focusing my energy on my clients, their needs, and training opportunities to serve them better.
What is a "Good Faith Estimate?"
Under the law, healthcare providers must give patients without insurance (or not using insurance) an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. This law helps protect you from unexpected expenses. You can receive this Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. You must ensure your healthcare provider gives you this estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. This estimate should include costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. You can dispute the bill if it’s over $400 above your Good Faith Estimate. Save a copy or picture of your estimate. For questions or more information, visitย www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
How do you take payment?
You can pay with a check, credit card, or HSA. I use a secure billing system that can take single card payments. You can store your card number, so you don’t need to enter it each time individually.
How do I get started?
Please contact me through email at allison.cobian@proton.me or call/text at (239) 628-0059. If we both feel we fit well, we’ll schedule your first appointment. No referral is needed.
Is online therapy as effective as in-person?
What age ranges do you work with?
With whom do you work?
What do therapy sessions look like for you?
Therapy sessions with me are primarily conversational, with some education on different subjects as needed. I am a human, just like you. We will explore and reflect on various topics to help guide you in the right direction.
Is there homework in between sessions?
Sometimes, I may suggest practicing skills we learned in between sessions or reflecting on what you gained from our session and how to use it throughout the week. We cannot always accomplish real change during our session, so much of the change you will see will occur outside of the session, putting together the work we discuss. You won’t be graded on anything, though. Don’t worry!
